Brand Design ✦ Art Direction ✦ Creative Strategy

Hi ✦ My name is Valerio and I am design enthusiast. Feel free to browse through some of the projects that have kept me busy, curious, excited, and occasionally over-caffeinated.

I've got a bit of a soft spot for drawing letters by hand and can get quite excited about diving into side projects or lending a hand to friends with theirs.

Vibrant color palette and expressive lettering logo for a friend's home studio. He is a creative developer who works remotely. The term Void Zero is a technical one from the coding world, something that only developers will understand. Also, my friend’s girlfriend is really into tote bags.

CONTEXT
Cheap is a poster art festival that focuses on diversity and gender rights. It has been active for over 10 years now, and in collaboration with the municipality of Bologna, it has contributed to filling the city streets with conscious pieces of art collected through their yearly call for posters.

Here is an extract from the theme of the 2023 call for posters: “Agitate. At the borders. Inside universities. In saunas. On bikes. While voguing, hanging out the laundry, or marching against all the wars. In Tehran, Lima, Lagos, Minneapolis, and Hong Kong. While cruising, grocery shopping, or vectorizing a logo. Standing in line for a free meal. In protests for all rights. In the space of a poster. In the street. Always, in the streets. Agitate.”

MY CONTRIBUTION
Agitation is one of those feelings that is hard to hide. It sends clear messages through the human body, and these signs are usually perceived negatively by those experiencing that emotion. My idea revolves around turning the signs of agitation into a symbol of unity. The posters celebrate these iconic signs by writing them down with a spontaneous marker-style handwriting that recalls the protest messages people create on the street.

“Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” ingrained in Musixmatch’s DNA. While working there, I designed this neon sign for fun, and now it's hanging on the main open-space wall of the company headquarter.
